Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of this website and how our free estimates work. We have tried to write them the way we run the business: plainly and honestly. By using the site or asking us for an estimate, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

"We," "us" and "our" mean Second Life Cleanouts, owned by Jordan Mercier and based in Denham Springs, Louisiana. "You" means the person using the site or requesting service.

Using this website

The site is here to tell you about our services and help you reach us. Please use it that way.

  • Give us accurate information when you request an estimate.
  • Only upload photos you took or have permission to share.
  • Do not try to disrupt the site, send spam through the forms or access parts of it you are not meant to.

The words, photos, logo and design on this site belong to Second Life Cleanouts or are used with permission. You are welcome to share links to our pages, but please do not copy our content or branding for your own use.

We work hard to keep the information here accurate and current, but it is general information, not a promise for your specific job. Some photos on the site are illustrative and are not pictures of our own work.

Free estimates

An estimate is our best honest read of your job based on what you show and tell us.

  • Estimates are free, and asking for one does not commit you to anything.
  • An estimate is based on the photos and description you send. It is not a final price.
  • The final price is confirmed with you on site, after we see the items in person and before any work begins. If what we find is different from the photos, we will talk it through with you first. You are never obligated to go ahead.
  • Pricing is based on how much we haul and the drive to your property.

Items you leave for removal

Clear expectations here protect both of us, so please read this part closely.

  • You have the right to get rid of them. By asking us to remove items, you confirm that you own them or have the authority to dispose of them, for example as an owner, executor, landlord or property manager acting with permission.
  • They become ours once loaded. Items you leave for removal become the property of Second Life Cleanouts once they are in our trailer or vehicle. From there, we decide if they will be repaired, donated, recycled or disposed of.
  • Check before we load. Please remove anything you want to keep, including papers, photos, cash, jewelry and keepsakes, before we start. We cannot promise to recover items once they have been hauled away.

Donation and repairs

Passing good things on is the heart of what we do, and we want to be honest about how it works.

We try to fix furniture and appliances when the repair is simple, and we donate usable items to local thrift stores. The decision to repair or donate any item rests with us and the organizations that receive it, and it depends on condition, safety and what they can accept. Donation is not guaranteed for any specific item.

Because the items become ours before they are donated, we cannot provide tax-deductible donation receipts for them.

Items we may decline

For everyone's safety, we may decline hazardous materials, including chemicals, paint, fuel, asbestos, medical waste and anything else we cannot legally or safely transport. If you are not sure about an item, ask us before your appointment. We may also stop or reschedule work if conditions on site are unsafe.

Scheduling and access

Please make sure we can safely reach the items at the agreed time, and let us know about steps, tight spaces, gate codes or pets. If you need to reschedule, call or text us as early as you can.

Limitation of liability

We take care in every home and on every property we work in. To the fullest extent the law allows, Second Life Cleanouts is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of this website or our services, and our total liability for any claim related to a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Louisiana law.

This website is provided "as is." We do not promise it will always be available or free of errors, and we are not responsible for the content of other websites we link to.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana. If a disagreement comes up, we would much rather talk it through with you first. Any legal dispute will be handled in the courts serving Livingston Parish, Louisiana, unless the law requires otherwise.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. The terms in effect when you request an estimate apply to that job. How we handle your information is covered separately in our privacy policy.
